Book is in good shape, binding is not broken. The cover & corners have wear. No pages missing one little tear inside front binding. A personal signature inside -one from past owner. The other is a pencil signature of maybe George B. Rogers (?) on title page.
Charles Kingsley, a clergyman of the Church of England, who late in his life held the chair of history at Cambridge University, wrote mostly didactic historical romances. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.
