Jon Carlos Lopez is an American artist born in Michigan in 1940. Most of his work was completed in the 1970s. This is a good example of the type of pottery he created during that time. The piece is engraved on the bottom with 1974 as the date.
This is a very rustic piece that has imperfections all of which appear to have been done intentionally by the artist. The back of the piece where a raised script reading, "Lopez" is not clear but also not chipped, because the glaze covers the area.
