This rare antique piece is exquisite! These brilliant fire opals were cut and polished by a very skilled Mexican jeweler during the 1920’s. The “fire” really shines through beautifully. There are 6 small fire opals that measure 1/4” inche and 7 larger opals measuring just under 1/2” I diameter . Each Cabochon is encased in luxurious Mexican silver and are open faced on each side. I bought at an estate sale. Each raw fire Opal was mined in Mexico by the original owner, who then commissioned it to be made into a necklace for his bride as a honeymoon gift. She died two years later and it sat in a beautifully carved cherry wood box for many years until I added it to my personal collection. I love learned the history of such a rare piece. It is I have enjoyed and treasured it for many years but have decided to share it. It feels luxurious against the skin and it is definitely a showstopper! 31”
