Just came in from a vintage store in Waco, Texas. It was hard to tell at first what the vamp was but, biased cut American Alligator is the consensus. The heel counters are the dead giveaway - no doubt high end gator! Someone spent spent some cash on these back in the 60's. These have the original soles in excellent shape and the heel caps are almost new (not original). Not one rip, cut or crack in the vamps. Shafts are really nice. The finest!
